The "Wedding Book"

I went home to visit my parents this weekend. One of the reasons I visited was to get a hold of some baby pictures for wedding-related projects (more on those later). On my first night at home, my dad came home from Whole Foods with some groceries. He was really excited about a "wedding book" he found in the checkout aisle while grocery shopping. As he sifted through the groceries in pursuit of the book, I became alarmed. Like most dads, mine is not very involved in the wedding planning. I envisioned him pulling out something like this:

I don't know why this image popped into my head, my dad is pretty cool and generally has good taste. But I was really nervous about this suspicious "book." The fact that he was looking at wedding publications at the grocery store and thought to buy me one was super cute, and I didn't want to hurt his feelings if it turned out to be really lame. I prepared myself for feigned excitement and interest. However, to my surprise, this is what he produced:

The new Martha Stewart Weddings magazine! Otherwise known as the Wedding Bible! My absolute favorite wedding magazine and the source of 96.8% of all cute decor pictures on the wedding blogosphere! Not exactly a "book," but I could see how a layperson could mistake it for one. Anyway, I was elated! Thanks, Dad!

How has your family surprised you during the wedding planning process?
