Calligraphy Shortcut

Are you in love with the look of hand calligraphy for your invitations, but can't bear to pay $2.00-$2.50 per envelope? Jenn of With This Ring has a great idea for creating the hand-calligraphy look for less!

Jenn devised a great DIY alternative to paying a calligrapher to address envelopes. She selected her favorite script font on her word processing software (if you don't like any of the pre-loaded ones, you can download more for free here). Next, she printed each address on the envelope in a slightly lighter ink color so it was faint enough to see after printing. Next, she went back over the lettering with a calligraphy pen and white ink, covering up the printed portion and giving it a more hand-written look. Her end result looks like a professional calligraphy for a fraction of the cost. Jenn's step-by-step can be found here. This idea is not limited to weddings. It can be used by anyone who is planning a party or sending out announcements!

Has anyone else tried DIY calligraphy?

Great idea! I bet you could do that for the invitations themselves, too, if you had a lot of time on your hands!
