I ordered these lovely invitations from Laura Hooper. Laura designed my STDs and I was extremely happy with them. I loved her invitation line, but sadly it was out of my budget (sigh--how I love letterpress). But Laura worked with me to design an invitation suite that I could squeeze into my budget.
I decided on white cardstock with aqua lettering and tan icons. The colors remind me of the beach! To save on costs, I opted for thermography instead of letterpress, and a postcard instead of an RSVP envelope. The postcard allowed me to save in three ways-- no extra envelope to buy, no need to print addresses on the envelope, and postcard stamps are almost half the cost of regular stamps! Plus, USPS has cute tropical fruit postcard stamps that are perfect for an island wedding!
When we were in the process of designing the invitations I asked Laura about the cost of printing on both sides of the postcard. She let me know that printing on the other (non RSVP) side of the postcard was going to increase printing costs, and I just couldn't fit that into our budget. But for some reason, I didn't love the idea of sending postcards out with blank backsides. I asked Mr. K and some of my friends about this, and of course they all thought I was crazy. And I know it was totally irrational and the postcards looked BEAUTIFUL just the way they were, but I just couldn't fight the temptation to decorate the backsides of those little suckers!
Of course this delayed the sendoff of my invitations, but I just really wanted to do it! Stay tuned tomorrow to see what I decided to do to them!
How did you have guests RSVP? Would you decorate the back of my postcards or leave them blank?

Love your invites {from what I see so far}, the colors, the starfish, and the calligraphy... can you please email me with a cost breakdown of how much everything cost you using Laura?
Thank you!
